This album was made somewhere between New Zealand (mr sterile in Wellington) & Fiji (Snakebeings in Suva). We passed sounds back and forth between May and August 2021. Often a track started from a cellphone message on a crunched up mp4 and other times as .wav files which we transfered via email. As both cities entered lockdown, due to rampant plague, we assembled the tracks on 26th August to have a listen to what we had done, suprised to find about 11 completed songs. The most amazing thing of this collaboration was that the turn-around of tracks, overdubs and underdubs (note: track 10 'I do not understand... I do not stand under') was so quick, sometimes on the same evening. These songs emerged in under 4 months. pending release the cover title (after many mutations) was scratched into a painted sardine can and the rest of the image composed by cellphone on a windowless bus blowing into Suva town. mr sterile put the whole thing through the wizardry of izotope ozone mastering software - bravely resisting the 'country and western' tonal balence preset (I'm still kinda currious about how it would have came out -maybe next time) and cleaned up the multi-layered haphazard constructions into the coherent narrative we hear now. - This is a simultanious release with Skirted records >>> mrsterileassembly.bandcamp.com
